Natural Buildings

The current building code makes it difficult for natural buildings to comply with energy efficiency standards

Natural Building professionals, builders and homeowners have been working with Building Physics Australia on Performance Solutions which allow materiality to maintain its integrity as a working solution to thermal comfort. When considering the process of compliance, it is apparent that the strategy employed with natural building is different from a building code which measures energy performance through the use of added insulation and mechanical heating and cooling.

Our job is to test the dwelling in the climate zone and ensure that the strategy is going to allow for adequate thermal comfort.

Most natural buildings avoid the use of manufactured insulation and manufactured cladding and lining to better serve the environment and greatly reduce the environmental impact of a build. Working with you and in line with your values is where our speciality lies. Our belief is with your values. Our methods prove your values.

Our strategy is to work with you and your values...

...by testing the dwelling in the climate zone and ensuring that your design is going to allow for adequate thermal comfort.

Most natural buildings avoid the use of manufactured insulation and manufactured cladding and lining to better serve the environment and greatly reduce the environmental impact and upfront carbon cost of a build. Working with you and in line with your values is where our values lie. To be heard and understood is an empowering moment in the building process.

Natural Buildings have the best intention to reduce environmental impact and it is our job to prove this intention, although different from the construction code, provides comfort by addressing the impacts of the local climate zone.
